The Federal Government has commenced the development of a 250-unit Renewed Hope Civil Service Estate at Dukpa, Gwagwalada, Abuja, as part of efforts to expand access to affordable housing for federal civil servants.
The project is developed through collaboration between the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF).
The estate comprises two- and three-bedroom bungalows and is expected to be completed and delivered within six months.
The Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) said the initiative is designed not only to increase housing supply but also to provide eligible civil servants with access to affordable mortgage financing.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive of FMBN, Shehu Usman Osidi, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to complementing the housing development with accessible and affordable mortgage facilities for qualified beneficiaries.
He said the project builds on the ₦10 billion housing loan facility provided through FMBN and the Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board (FGSHLB) to support the homeownership aspirations of federal civil servants.
The initiative is part of the Federal Government’s broader efforts to address Nigeria’s housing deficit and promote sustainable homeownership among workers.
The government said partnerships across the housing sector would continue to drive concrete interventions aimed at ensuring that more Nigerians, particularly public servants, have access to decent and affordable housing.
