The Public Diplomacy Officer at the United States Embassy in Abuja, Raisa Dulcas, has paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Prof. Adamu Ahmed, as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between the university and the United States.
Dulcas visited the university on Thursday to train selected staff and students and assess the activities of the Window on America facility at the institution.
She was accompanied by the Director of American Spaces, Grace Lamon, and Youth Engagement Specialist, Diran Adegoke.
Speaking during the visit, Dulcas described the Window on America as a partnership designed to promote collaboration in education and culture.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Bello Sabo, assured the US delegation of the university’s readiness to deepen its partnership with the US government.
Ahmed said the university was committed to maximising the benefits of the partnership through effective oversight and coordination of activities at the Window on America facility.
He disclosed that the university would constitute a six-member governing board comprising relevant and committed staff to oversee the facility’s activities.
According to him, the board would ensure that programmes and activities at the Window on America align with ABU’s strategic objectives.
The Vice-Chancellor also appreciated the US Embassy for organising the training for staff and students, assuring that the knowledge acquired would be shared with other members of the university community.
Those present during the visit included the Acting University Librarian, Dr. Abubakar Abdullahi Muhammed; Deputy Bursar, Ibrahim Salisu; Prof. Adele Garkida; Prof. Joseph Azi; and Dr. Aminu Musa Umar.
