The Head of the Civil Service of Kano State, Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Mai Mota, has emphasised the importance of integrity, teamwork, punctuality and dedication to duty among civil servants, describing the values as essential to effective and efficient service delivery.
Hajiya Bilkisu stated this while declaring open a two-day capacity-building workshop organised by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service for Messengers serving across Ministries and Government Offices in the state.

The training, held at the Headquarters of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Audu Bako Secretariat, Kano, is aimed at enhancing the participants’ professional knowledge, workplace conduct and effectiveness in discharging their assigned responsibilities.
The Head of Service urged the participants to take the training seriously and apply the knowledge and skills acquired to improve their performance at their respective places of work.
She reminded them that Messengers constitute an important component of the government administrative structure, stressing that every category of worker has a significant role to play in building a responsive, efficient and result-oriented civil service.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service, Alhaji Sabiu Ibrahim Muhammad, said the Kano State Government had been organising similar capacity-building programmes for different categories of civil servants as part of efforts to strengthen their professional skills and improve performance.
He urged the participants to make effective use of the knowledge gained during the training and apply it in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Some participants, including Malam Musa Muhammad Hamza from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government and Sani Umar from the Office of the Head of the Civil Service, expressed appreciation to the Kano State Government for organising the training.
They said the workshop had provided an opportunity to broaden their knowledge, improve workplace conduct and acquire new techniques for carrying out their duties more effectively.

Two papers were presented on the first day of the training. Malam Magaji Rabiu Garun Danga presented a paper titled “The Expected Conduct and Responsibilities of a Messenger,” while Malam Muhammad Auwal presented another paper on “Measures for Safeguarding Health and Safety in the Workplace.”
The two-day capacity-building workshop is expected to equip the participants with practical knowledge and skills to enhance their performance and effectiveness across Ministries and Government Offices in Kano State.
