The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed allegations by the Senator representing the FCT, Ireti Kingibe, that the FCT Administration acquired loans without approval from the National Assembly.
Wike said the administration’s financing arrangements were captured in approved budgets and subject to the necessary legislative authorisation.

He maintained that the FCT Administration could not obtain loans without the required budgetary provisions and approval by the National Assembly.
The Minister spoke in Abuja on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, while inspecting ongoing infrastructure projects across the Federal Capital Territory.
Wike also announced that major road projects across the FCT would be completed and commissioned by December 2026.
The projects inspected included the Arterial Road N1 linking Wuye to Ring Road 2, the Tunga Madaki-Zuba Road and a 5.6-kilometre rural road network connecting Zaudna, Kabba and Kagini communities near Dei Dei, including solar-powered street lighting.
The Minister expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of construction, attributing some delays to heavy rainfall.

He said construction activities would intensify from October as the rains subside, expressing confidence that the contractors would meet the December completion target.
Wike described the Zaudna-Kabba-Kagini road as important to the surrounding rural communities, saying improved road infrastructure would enhance connectivity and economic activities.
According to him, the projects would form part of what he described as President Bola Tinubu’s “Christmas gifts” to residents of the FCT.
The Minister also addressed questions about balancing his administrative responsibilities with political activities ahead of the 2027 elections, saying the administration’s infrastructure projects demonstrate its performance.
He subsequently appealed to residents of the communities visited during the inspection to support President Tinubu and Senator Philip Aduda in the forthcoming elections.

The inspection was attended by Senator Philip Aduda and other officials of the FCT Administration.
Wike said the administration would continue to prioritise infrastructure development and the delivery of projects across urban and rural communities in the territory.
