The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has completed the payment of all outstanding refunds to intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj exercise who initially paid a higher fare.
Director General of the Board, Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, disclosed this in an interview with journalists, confirming that the refunds covering about five batches of pilgrims have been successfully disbursed.
He explained that the initial Hajj fare was set at ₦8,500,000 but was later reviewed downward to ₦7,696,813, resulting in a balance that has now been refunded to affected pilgrims.
Matawalle advised any intending pilgrim yet to receive the refund to check with their respective banks or contact Hajj officers in their local government areas for assistance.
He affirmed that the Board has fully met its obligation regarding the refund process, ensuring that all eligible pilgrims have received their due payments.
The development is expected to boost confidence among intending pilgrims as preparations for the 2026 Hajj continue.
