Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has announced two major investment agreements worth $950 million aimed at transforming the state’s industrial and economic landscape.
Speaking while receiving the Coalition of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), Kebbi State Chapter, on a courtesy visit at Government House, Birnin Kebbi, the governor revealed that his administration had signed a $350 million agreement with a Chinese company for the establishment of a Lithium Plant in Libata, expected to create over 45,000 direct and indirect jobs.

In addition, the state has also finalised a $600 million investment deal with another company to build a cement factory in Maiyama, which is projected to generate 55,000 jobs.
Governor Idris highlighted other achievements recorded in the last two years across various sectors, noting that his administration inherited widespread infrastructural decay but is working diligently to reverse the trend.
On security, the governor dismissed allegations that his administration was importing mercenaries, describing them as baseless and politically motivated.

He disclosed that the state government had convened a high-level security meeting and directed security agencies to investigate the petitions.
Governor Idris also accused opposition elements of sponsoring individuals to use social media to spread misinformation and tarnish Kebbi’s image.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Coalition of Civil Society Organisations, Ibrahim Ngaski, pledged the group’s readiness to partner with the government in advancing the development of Kebbi State.
