The Gombe State Coordinator of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), Architect Usman Mohammed, has presented medical equipment worth over 90 million naira to the Gombe State Government to support healthcare delivery across the state.
The presentation took place at the office of the Deputy Governor, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau, where the NEDC Coordinator said the gesture followed a needs assessment that identified gaps in medical infrastructure and services.

Architect Mohammed explained that the consignment included consumable and non-consumable medical items aimed at strengthening hospitals and health centres in Gombe.
The North East Coordinator of the Commission noted that while the NEDC has executed projects in various sectors, this intervention focuses on healthcare to improve citizens’ access to quality medical services.
He commended the strong partnership between the NEDC and the Gombe State Government, assuring that the commission will continue to support the state in key areas of development.
Receiving the items on behalf of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, the Deputy Governor, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau, thanked the NEDC for complementing the state’s efforts in improving healthcare delivery.

He said the Inuwa-led administration remains committed to ensuring that each of the 114 wards in the state has at least two functional primary healthcare centres.
Dr Jatau appreciated the Federal Government for sustaining the NEDC and commended its leadership for their dedication to improving the lives of people in the North East. He assured that the medical equipment will be used judiciously for the benefit of the people.
In a goodwill message, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Habu Dahiru, represented by the Executive Secretary of the Gombe State Hospital Management Board, Dr Abdulkadir Bello, described the donation as a timely support to enhance healthcare services in the state.
The event was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Health, including the Director of Public Health, Dr David Karatu; Director of Pharmaceutical Services, Pharmacist Idi Philemon; and Director of Administration, Umar Ibrahim.
