The Nigeria Police Force has handed over thirteen armoured operational vehicles to the Kebbi State Government in recognition of the sustained support provided by Governor Nasir Idris to security operations across the state.
The presentation took place at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi, where the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello Sani, disclosed that the vehicles were deployed to the state by the Force Headquarters in Abuja on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP).
CP Bello Sani explained that the deployment was intended to appreciate the Kebbi State Government for its consistent assistance to security agencies in tackling crime and other security challenges.
He stated that the vehicles were delivered in two batches. The first batch comprises six armoured operational vehicles and one truck, which have been permanently assigned to the Kebbi State Command. The second batch consists of six armoured Special Intervention Squad (SIS) vehicles designated for special security operations within the state.
According to the Commissioner, all the vehicles are fully armoured and are expected to significantly enhance police operations, particularly in volatile areas, while strengthening overall security across Kebbi State.
In his response, Governor Nasir Idris expressed gratitude to Almighty God and commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Inspector-General of Police for prioritising the security of lives and property in the state.
The Governor described the armoured vehicles as timely and suitable for deployment to identified flashpoints, noting that their provision reflects the fulfillment of directives issued by President Tinubu to the IGP.
Governor Idris also praised the Nigeria Police, the military, and other security agencies for their swift response to security challenges, observing that peace has gradually returned to Kebbi State due to their collective efforts.
He assured that the state government would continue to support all security agencies to enable them to effectively carry out their responsibilities in safeguarding lives and property.
