The Nigeria Police Force has announced a major re-organisation following the posting of senior officers to strategic positions across the country.
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, approved the redeployment as part of efforts to strengthen operational efficiency, enhance leadership capacity, and improve service delivery nationwide.
According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid, the postings are aimed at reinforcing the Force’s command structure and ensuring effective deployment of personnel across Commands, Formations, and Departments.
Under the new arrangement, several Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) were assigned to key departments at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, including Research and Planning, Operations, Training and Development, Armament, Legal Services, and Community Policing. Others were deployed to zonal commands such as Zones 2 Lagos, 4 Makurdi, 14 Katsina, and 15 Maiduguri.
Similarly, a number of Commissioners of Police (CPs) were posted to state commands, including Jigawa, Oyo, Delta, Ogun, Ekiti, Adamawa, Katsina, Sokoto, Taraba, Zamfara, and the Federal Capital Territory. Others were assigned to specialized units such as INTERPOL, Special Protection Unit, Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), and Police Academy.
The reorganisation also affected key operational and administrative units, with postings made to departments such as General Investigation, Community Policing, K9, Safer Highway, Special Fraud Unit, and Police Mobile formations.
IGP Disu charged the affected officers to bring their wealth of experience to bear in their new assignments and to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and service in the discharge of their duties.
The latest postings are part of ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force aimed at improving effectiveness and strengthening internal security operations across the country.
