The Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with key stakeholders in the livestock industry as part of efforts to achieve food security and economic diversification.
The Minister made this known during a courtesy visit to the Coordination Centre of Admiralty Integrated Farms Limited (ADIFAL), a subsidiary of Navy Holdings Limited.
Welcoming the Minister, the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Navy Holdings Limited, Rear Admiral Zakariyyah Shaku Muhammad, emphasized the critical role of livestock development in tackling food insecurity, creating jobs, and diversifying the economy.
He assured the Minister of the company’s commitment to align its operations and investments with government priorities in the agricultural sector.
In his remarks, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of ADIFAL, Rear Admiral Julius Ahamba Nwagu, highlighted the company’s areas of focus, which include the adoption of modern farming technologies, improved storage systems, and enhanced transportation networks for farm produce.
He noted that these measures are designed to support efficient food production and distribution across the country.
Responding, Minister Maiha commended ADIFAL’s innovative initiatives and pledged his Ministry’s full support.
He stressed that partnerships between government and private sector players such as ADIFAL were crucial to strengthening national food systems and driving sustainable livestock development.
“The livestock sector remains a vital pillar in our quest for food security and economic growth. The Ministry will continue to collaborate with stakeholders like ADIFAL to unlock its full potential,” the Minister stated.
The visit, stakeholders say, highlights the Federal Government’s renewed determination to reposition the livestock sector as a driver of inclusive growth, job creation, and sustainable development.
