In Kebbi State, about 250 students of the College of Health Science and Technology, Jega, are set to resume classes soon following the approval of ₦60 million by Governor Nasir Idris to facilitate the institution’s accreditation process.
The State Commissioner for Higher Education, Alhaji Isah Abubakar Tunga, announced this at a press conference in Birnin Kebbi, where he said the governor approved the funds for the accreditation of eight academic programmes by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

According to the Commissioner, the accreditation process is already underway and nearing completion, after which affected students will be recalled to continue their studies.
Tunga explained that the move will allow students impacted by the October 17, 2024, riot to resume their academic activities and graduate with National Diploma (ND) qualifications.
He further revealed that Governor Idris also approved the renovation of student hostels as part of the accreditation process, describing it as a step toward enhancing teaching, learning, and research within the institution.

Speaking earlier, the Provost of the College, Malam Hussaini Aliyu, expressed appreciation to the governor for his continued support and commitment to revitalizing health education in the state.
He said the college management, in collaboration with its Governing Council and the Ministry of Higher Education, remains fully aligned with the governor’s vision of educational transformation, accessibility, and institutional excellence.
Malam Aliyu also appealed to parents and students to remain patient, assuring them that academic activities will soon resume once the accreditation process is finalized.
