The Kano State Government under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has reaffirmed its commitment to transparent and people-centred healthcare delivery, with renewed efforts to improve accountability in services targeting vulnerable populations.
As part of this drive, the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency KSCHMA, convened a high-level engagement with Primary Healthcare Centres implementing the vulnerable healthcare programme funded by the Kano State Healthcare Trust Fund KHETFUND.
The meeting focused on strengthening coordination among stakeholders, improving adherence to referral protocols, and enhancing the quality of data reporting across health facilities. It also aimed to ensure the effective use of approved tools and systems for accurate and timely health records.
According to the Executive Secretary of KSCHMA, Dr. Rahila Mukhtar, the initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to expanding equitable access to healthcare services, particularly for vulnerable groups across all local government areas in Kano State.
She commended Governor Yusuf for his consistent support for the programme, noting that prioritising vulnerable populations remains central to improving health outcomes in the state.
The engagement is part of ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening primary healthcare delivery, improving accountability mechanisms, and ensuring better coordination between implementing agencies and health facilities.
The state government says the initiative will further enhance efficiency in service delivery and support its broader goal of achieving universal health coverage for residents.
