The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adamawa/Taraba Area Command, has taken steps to deepen inter-agency cooperation with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to enhance border security and public safety.
The move followed a courtesy visit by the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Mohammed Tako, to the Adamawa State Commandant of the NSCDC, Idris Bande, in Yola.
During the meeting, Comptroller Tako explained that the visit was aimed at reinforcing the existing partnership between the two agencies, particularly in tackling cross-border crimes and strengthening security operations.
He stressed that effective border management cannot be achieved in isolation, noting that sustained collaboration among security agencies remains critical to national safety.
“The visit underscores the importance of inter-agency cooperation in enhancing security operations and ensuring the effective execution of our mandates,” Tako stated.
Responding, NSCDC Commandant Idris Bande described the Nigeria Customs Service as a key stakeholder in Nigeria’s security architecture. He assured the delegation of the Corps’ readiness to provide tactical and operational support whenever required.
Bande added that security agencies in Adamawa State work as a united front, emphasizing that Customs would continue to play an active role in joint security initiatives across the state.
The engagement is expected to further strengthen intelligence sharing and coordinated responses to border-related security challenges in Adamawa and Taraba states.
