President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has paid glowing tribute to the late former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Innocent Ogbeh, describing him as a patriot, statesman, and national icon who dedicated his life to the service of Nigeria.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, conveyed the President’s condolence message to the family during the funeral service held in Benue State.
“The President profoundly appreciates the contributions of the late Audu Ogbeh to the development of the country in various capacities — as a Minister, Special Adviser, National Chairman of the PDP, and a key figure in the committee that midwifed the emergence of the APC, which has governed since 2015,” Akume said.
He assured the people of Benue and the Ogbeh family that the late statesman lived a fulfilled life, leaving behind a legacy of patriotism and integrity that will continue to inspire future generations.
Speaking at the service, Mr. Adegbeope Ogbeh, son of the late Minister, expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of support the family has received. He noted that his father “ran a good race, finished his course, and left behind sterling legacies that we will strive to uphold.”
The funeral service was attended by dignitaries including the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engr. Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev; former Minister of Labour and Productivity, Dr. Chris Ngige; Senator representing Benue North-West, Dr. Titus Tartenger Zam; Managing Director of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Dr. Akutah Pius Ukeyima; as well as members of the National Assembly, top government officials, and well-wishers from across the country who gathered to honour the late statesman.
