The Kebbi State Ministry of Justice recorded significant progress in the administration of criminal justice in 2025, marked by improved conviction rates, faster case disposal, and stronger collaboration with law enforcement agencies.
The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Lawal Hudu Garba,disclosed this in an interview, where he presented a detailed breakdown of the department’s performance from January to December 2025.

Garba said the achievements were recorded under the leadership of the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Junaidu Bello Marshall, based on data compiled from key departments within the ministry.
According to the findings, the ministry handled over 800 distinct legal matters during the year. These covered a wide range of activities, including legal advisory services at the pre-prosecution stage and high-profile litigation up to the Supreme Court.
The DPP revealed that his office received 84 case files for legal advice and processed 383 bail applications within the period. In addition, the department filed 135 criminal cases at the High Court and handled 50 appeals at the same level.
He further disclosed that the ministry prosecuted 19 cases at the Court of Appeal in Sokoto, represented the state in 25 matters before the Supreme Court, and conducted 17 cases at the Federal High Court in Birnin Kebbi.

Garba added that the total number of judgments secured across all court levels was still being compiled, noting that the overall performance reflects sustained efforts to strengthen justice delivery and uphold the rule of law in Kebbi State.
