The Kano State Government has distributed over 700 fire extinguishers and sporting equipment to colleges under the Science and Technical Schools Board, STSB.
The initiative is aimed at enhancing fire safety, promoting sports development and improving the learning environment across the institutions.

The exercise was organised by the STSB in collaboration with the Kano State Fire Service.
As part of the exercise, the State Fire Service conducted fire safety technology training for principals, heads of departments and selected staff of the STSB Secretariat.
The training equipped participants with knowledge and practical skills in fire prevention, safety measures and emergency response.

Speaking on the initiative, the Executive Secretary of the STSB, Professor Dahiru Sale Mohammed, said the interventions were designed to strengthen safety measures and support the overall development of students and staff.
The state government also distributed sporting facilities to 56 colleges under the Board.
The equipment included footballs, basketballs, badminton equipment, jerseys, goalposts and other sporting materials.

The interventions are expected to enhance students’ participation in sporting activities while promoting physical fitness and talent development.
The government says the initiatives demonstrate its commitment to improving students’ safety, staff capacity and the quality of learning environments across science and technical colleges in the state.
