The Kano State Police Command says it has arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered a cine-camera drone during clearance operations along the Kano-Kaduna and Kano-Katsina border areas.
The command said the arrest followed credible intelligence on September 14, 2026, when operatives of its Anti-Kidnapping Squad apprehended 35-year-old Habibu Bello of Kunkumi Town, Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

According to the police, Bello is suspected to be a member of a criminal syndicate involved in kidnapping, armed robbery and cattle rustling across Kano, Katsina and Kaduna States.
The command said investigation into the suspect’s activities led to the arrest of another alleged syndicate member, identified as Mudam of Kwanar Dangora.
Police said Bello confessed to involvement in several kidnapping incidents, including the abduction of Hajiya Binta of Kwanar Dangora, for which a ransom of ₦20 million was allegedly paid.

He also allegedly confessed to kidnapping and collecting ransom from a household in Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State, as well as involvement in cattle rustling across the three states.
The police said investigation is ongoing, while efforts are being intensified to arrest other members of the alleged syndicate and recover their weapons.
In a separate operation, police operatives on September 17 recovered a cine-camera drone marked GT 50 at Hawan Tarau Village in Bebeji Local Government Area of Kano State.
The command said the drone was found lying on the ground during a clearance operation and that efforts were underway to establish its source and identify its owner.

The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the operatives for what he described as their gallantry and said the command would sustain clearance operations in collaboration with neighbouring police commands.
