The Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board (KSPHCMB) has intensified efforts to sustain the state’s polio-free status with a high-level strategy meeting ahead of the March immunization campaign in Kano State.
The meeting, held at the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), brought together key stakeholders, development partners, and health officials to align strategies and ensure effective coordination for the exercise.
Speaking during the session, the Director General of KSPHCMB, Professor Salisu Ibrahim, stressed the importance of collaboration, accountability, and community participation in achieving a successful campaign. He noted that strong synergy among all stakeholders remains critical to reaching every eligible child.
Professor Ibrahim further emphasized the need for clearly defined roles among participants, including traditional ward heads, frontline health workers, and development partners, to enhance efficiency and expand coverage across the state.
Discussions at the meeting also focused on the responsibilities of Local Immunization Officers (LIOs), Ward Focal Persons, Cluster Consultants, and Field Volunteers, particularly in mobilization, vaccination, and monitoring at the grassroots level.
The board reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a high-quality campaign through strengthened partnerships and sustained community engagement. Stakeholders were urged to intensify advocacy and maintain professionalism throughout the exercise.
The upcoming campaign is part of broader efforts to eliminate Polio and improve routine immunization outcomes in Kano State.
