The Kano State House of Assembly has considered a series of motions aimed at improving infrastructure, education, and community development across the state during a plenary session presided over by the Speaker, Jibril Ismail Falgore.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai,made available to newsmen in Kano.
Lawmakers presented motions addressing key sectors, with Hon. Muhammad Ahmad Tomas, representing Makoda Constituency, calling on the state government to construct a road linking Wailare, Gagarawa, Yallada, and Kwarkiya communities in Makoda Local Government Area.
Similarly, Hon. Sulaiman Muktar Ishaq of Madobi Constituency urged the government to establish Computer-Based Test (CBT) and ICT centres across all 44 local government areas. He noted that the move would align with the new national examination policy for WAEC and NECO and help improve students’ computer literacy.
In the area of rural electrification, Hon. Yunusa Haruna Kayyu, representing Gwarzo Constituency, called for the completion of ongoing electrification projects in Garun Madadi and Yanguruza communities in Gwarzo Local Government Area.
Also contributing, Hon. Engr. Murtala Kadage of Garko Constituency requested the rehabilitation of the Buda Dam located in Kwas Ward, Garko Local Government Area, to enhance water access and support agricultural activities.
On legislative matters, Rt. Hon. Bello Muhammad Butu Butu, representing Rimin Gado/Tofa Constituency, presented a report on judiciary reforms, including the Kano State Sharia Court Bill, 2026, and the Kano State Sharia Court of Appeal Bill, 2026, for the Assembly’s consideration.
During the session, the Speaker, Jibril Ismail Falgore, also read a letter from the Kano State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), notifying the House of new nominations for minority leadership positions following recent changes in the Assembly.
According to the letter, Hon. Usman Abubakar Tasiu, representing Kiru Constituency, was nominated as Minority Leader, while Hon. Yusuf Bello Aliyu of Nasarawa Constituency was nominated as Minority Whip. The party stated that the nominations were based on the lawmakers’ experience and commitment.
The plenary session reflects the Assembly’s continued focus on legislative actions aimed at improving public infrastructure, strengthening education, and enhancing governance across Kano State.
