The Fiscal Discipline and Development Advocacy Centre (FIDAC) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Aminu Sa’ad, a member of the 10th Kano State House of Assembly who represented Ungogo Constituency, describing his passing as a major loss to Kano State and the legislature.
In a statement signed by its Executive Director,Dr. Abdussalam Muhammad Kani, FIDAC said the late lawmaker was a principled and disciplined parliamentarian whose contributions to governance and public service would be remembered for years to come.
According to the organisation, Hon. Ungogo was widely respected across party lines for his integrity, punctuality, and commitment to legislative duties.
It noted that he was known for measured leadership, clarity in advocacy, and firm delivery on promises made to his constituents.
Before his election into the Kano State House of Assembly, the late lawmaker served in several public service capacities, including Interim Local Government Chairman, Chief Personnel Officer (CPO), and Director of Personnel Management (DPM).
FIDAC said these roles strengthened his understanding of grassroots governance and shaped his people-centred approach to leadership.
As Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, Hon. Ungogo was credited with bringing fiscal discipline, administrative precision, and intellectual rigour to legislative oversight, particularly in matters relating to public finance and resource management.
FIDAC further highlighted several projects and legislative interventions associated with the late lawmaker, including the renovation of Alhaji Taijjani Hashim Bridge at Kofar Ruwa; construction of Dorawar Yan Kifi Road in Rijiyar Zaki; establishment of Senior Secondary School (Boys) in Tudun Fulani, Ungogo; and the construction of key access roads across the Gayawa and Rimin Kebe axis.
He was also noted for sponsoring motions condemning the destruction of the Rimin Zakara community by Bayero University Kano and opposing the relocation of the state-owned psychiatric hospital to Chiromawa Village.
Beyond legislative chambers, Hon. Ungogo represented the Kano State House of Assembly at several national and international conferences, capacity-building programmes, and institutional exchanges, contributing to improved legislative practice and visibility for the Assembly.
In honour of his contributions, FIDAC called on the Kano State Government to rename Dorawar Yan Kifi Road after the late lawmaker, describing the gesture as a fitting tribute to his service and legacy.
“Kano has lost a rare lawmaker whose commitment to accountable, people-centred governance will be deeply missed,” the organisation stated.
FIDAC urged the government and people of Kano State to honour and celebrate the life and legacy of Hon. Aminu Sa’ad Ungogo, noting that his impact on governance and community development remains enduring.
