The Kano state house of Assembly KNHA has received a letter from the Commissioner for Planning and Budget seeking approval for the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) for 2026–2028.
The letter, read during plenary by Speaker Alhaji Jibril Ismail Falgore, outlined the economic and fiscal policies guiding the preparation of the 2026 budget, including revenue projections, grants, debt servicing, and capital expenditure plans.
According to the Speaker, the total MTEF projection for the 2026 budget stands at ₦724.2 billion, with ₦321 billion allocated for recurrent services and another ₦321 billion for capital expenditure.
Falgore urged members to critically review the proposal before forwarding it to the executive for assent.
After careful deliberations, the House adopted the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) document, pending the completion of necessary legislative procedures for its final approval.
Also during plenary, two bills the Kano State Basic Traditional Birth Attendants Accreditation and Certification Programme Bill 2025 (BATAC) and the Kano State Directorate of Medical Laboratory Services Bill 2025 — scaled first reading.
The bills were read by the Deputy Clerk, Alhaji Nasiru Magaji, and subsequently adopted by the lawmakers for further legislative consideration.
