The Kano State Internal Revenue Service (KIRS) and the Office of the Accountant-General have agreed to deepen collaboration to improve revenue generation and strengthen financial management in the state.
The Executive Chairman of KIRS, Alhaji Bashir Maitama, made this known during a familiarisation visit to the Accountant-General’s Office in Kano.
He commended the Office of the Accountant-General for its continued support in revenue-related activities and acknowledged its critical role in the state’s revenue management system.
According to him, achieving the revenue targets set for the Service requires sustained collaboration, strategic planning and stronger inter-agency cooperation among key government institutions.
Maitama added that enhanced collaboration would improve revenue collection and promote efficient financial administration across the state.
Responding, the Accountant-General of Kano State, Hajiya Jamila Magaji Abdullahi, congratulated the KIRS Executive Chairman on his appointment and expressed the office’s readiness to work closely with the Service to advance the state’s revenue generation objectives.
She stressed that effective collaboration among government institutions remains essential to achieving sustainable revenue growth and supporting Kano State’s development agenda.
