Kano State Commissioner for Public Procurement, Projects Monitoring and Evaluation (MPPPME), Nura Ma’aji Sumaila, has stated that the administration is prioritising the delivery of sustainable, high-quality infrastructure projects that directly improve the lives of citizens.
The Commissioner made the assertion during an extensive inspection tour of the ongoing reconstruction of the collapsed Kubarachi Bridge and the 15-kilometre Kura–Kubarachi–Madobi road upgrade project in Kura Local Government Area.

Speaking during the visit, Ma’aji emphasized that effective monitoring and evaluation remain critical to ensuring that public projects are executed according to approved specifications and contribute to improved connectivity, economic growth and enhanced living standards for residents.
At the various project sites, the Commissioner assessed the level of work completed, examined the quality of materials and workmanship, and engaged contractors and project engineers on strategies to ensure timely completion and value for public expenditure.
Beyond the Kubarachi Bridge and road project, the inspection tour covered 25 additional ongoing projects across Kura and Bunkure Local Government Areas.
Among the projects inspected were the general renovation of Kura General Hospital, construction and renovation of Neighbourhood Security Watch divisional offices, rehabilitation of Shari’a Courts, construction of Gida-Gida classroom blocks, and dual carriageway road projects spanning five kilometres.
During the inspection of classroom blocks at Bunkure Science and Mathematics School, the Vice Principal, Musa Abdullahi, appealed to the state government for additional teachers, improved toilet facilities, a borehole and perimeter fencing to enhance learning conditions.
He commended the Kano State Government for its sustained investment in educational development and infrastructure improvement across the state.

The inspection exercise forms part of the Ministry’s statutory responsibility to monitor government projects, ensure compliance with approved specifications, uphold quality standards and verify adherence to project timelines across Kano State.
