Former Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the forthcoming elections.
The announcement was made on Friday by Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, spokesperson to the former deputy governor, who disclosed that Gwarzo would be formally affirmed alongside other candidates of the party during the NDC’s scheduled affirmation ceremony.

According to the statement, the event will feature the affirmation of candidates contesting for seats in the State House of Assembly, National Assembly, governorship, and presidential elections under the platform of the party.
Gwarzo, a seasoned politician and administrator, brings decades of experience in public service and governance to the contest. He previously served as Deputy Governor of Kano State and was elected twice as chairman of a local government council.
He also served as commissioner in four different ministries in Kano State, where he played key roles in policy formulation and implementation across critical sectors.
In addition, Gwarzo was a member of the National Assembly Service Commission and also served as Chairman of the Governing Board of the Federal College of Education, Kontagora.
