The Kano State Government is set to transform payroll administration across its 44 local government areas with the introduction of a new Staff and Payroll Management Software aimed at enhancing transparency, efficiency, and accountability in the payment of workers’ salaries.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Mohammed Tajo Othman, stated this at the closing ceremony of a four-day capacity-building workshop held in Kano.

The training brought together key personnel from the State Primary Health Care Management Board (SPHCMB), the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), and the Ministry for Local Government to familiarise them with the new digital system.
According to the Commissioner, the software will eliminate ghost workers, ensure prompt salary payments, and promote a more transparent governance process.
He noted that the initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to using technology to strengthen public service delivery and promote accountability at the grassroots.
“The new system will not only ensure accurate payroll management but also notify civil servants three months before their retirement,” Othman explained. “This will enable a smooth transition process, while retirees will be enrolled in entrepreneurship training to help them become self-reliant.”

He urged participants to take full advantage of the training, stressing that computer literacy and commitment are key to the successful implementation of the new system.
Earlier, the Managing Director of Havosoft, Mr. Rock Adote, described the project as a milestone in digital governance, commending the Kano State Government for its foresight.
He said the newly deployed Human Resource Management System (HRMS) would bring unprecedented transparency and efficiency to government operations.
“We are proud to partner with the Kano State Government in this digital transformation journey. This HRMS will enhance workforce management and improve accountability across all local government councils,” he stated.
The initiative is part of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s broader reform agenda aimed at modernising public administration and ensuring effective utilisation of state resources.
